Tell Us About Your Company?
Simen : Kvikk is a Norwegian insurtech company revolutionizing insurance by using customers' location data to activate coverage in real-time, precisely tailored to each destination. Our goal is to transform insurance from something complex and daunting into a service that's personalized, user-friendly, and even positive. We believe in making insurance straightforward and intuitive, ensuring it fits seamlessly into people's lives.
What Made You Become an Entrepreneur?
Simen : I’ve always had a desire to do something different, though I never specifically planned on becoming an entrepreneur. The idea came to me, and I decided to pursue it by joining accelerators and seeking advice from mentors. The positive feedback I received was incredibly encouraging, and it felt too exciting to walk away from. As I’ve immersed myself in the insurance space, I’ve become more convinced that the industry is on the cusp of major disruption.
What is the Most Challenging Part of Running Your Own Startup?
Simen : Work-life balance is definitely one of the toughest aspects. It’s hard to take time off without feeling like everything grinds to a halt. Even on days off, it’s difficult to fully disconnect and relax because there’s always the sense that you need to keep things moving.
What is the Biggest Challenge You Have Faced When Looking for Funding?
Simen : As a pre-revenue company, the biggest challenge has been demonstrating the potential of our vision without having tangible results to show. It can be difficult to fully convey what the future of insurance looks like when you don’t yet have something concrete to put in front of investors. Of course, the current market conditions are tough as well, but I’m optimistic about the brighter days ahead.
What is the Most Rewarding Aspect of Entrepreneurship?
Simen : The most rewarding part is the freedom and creativity. Building something entirely new—something the world hasn’t seen before—is incredibly fulfilling. I love challenging the established norms and shaking up the status quo. It’s fun and invigorating, and I believe it’s something more people should embrace.
